AdVeNtUrEs in RaSiNg AIDEN!!

This morning David was preparing for his lesson he was going to teach at church. Aiden wanted to be of some help so he says, this is how it went.
David: "I need to you to STOP jumping on my bed. I need to finish reading this lesson."
AIDEN: "Ok, Daddy", (as he plops down on the bed.)

Aiden, gets off the bed and starts to make an angry ruckus on the floor around our bed while Dave is still trying to get through his lesson.

David: "Aiden, Aiden, Aiden stop! I need you to be like Jesus."

AIDEN: "I am Daddy...I'm being ANGRY JESUS!!!!"

We are in trouble when he gets to school.....soooooo in trouble.

Farm Days

Playdate on the farm was a hit. I didn't know how much fun having a playgroup would be until these last couple of adventures. Today we picnicked at Wheeler Farm. It was so much fun and the kids really loved doing everything we did.

We focused this week on the the letter "A". Animals...and we saw lots of them! Goats, pigs horses, cows, calfs we even had the chance to pet a few freshly bathed sheep (lucky find on a farm don't ya think?) The geese just loved the goodies we had for them. The wagon ride was of course bumpy, but worth it.

The little ones really enjoyed the treehouse we found and we spent a bit of time there. I appreciate the moms that came and shared this nice day with Aiden and me.

I was surprised at how crowded it was, but at the same time it was orderly and just fun.

The moms were so well behaved, I think I'll take them out on another trip next week!!

So Simple

What to do for FHE? That always hits us usually at the last minute...but I think we have found our stride. FHE does not need to be some elaborate, force fed lecture you dread every Monday...it is a dish best serve SIMPLE.
We were going to go swimming like we did the week before, but decided to go fly our model plane. That didn't work out since we left the charger at home...ooops!!! so there we were at the park no model plane and a lot of grass...

Soooo we rolled around in the grass and wrestled with the boys. That I must say has been one of the best FHE's we've had.

The boys didn't seem to mind that we didn't do what was exactly planned, but they sure loved just being together as a family... .That's what it is all about!!

... Never Lost

I thought I lost them!! I found them!! Right where I left them!! Last year around this same time. We had the chance to meet up with Aiden's birthfamily. His birthmother came along. This was the first time she had the chance to see Aiden in flesh since placement. I'll admit I was a little nervous, but there was no reason to be. It was a great day!! I am so happy that we did and hopefully soon we will see her and her new little guy soon.

Easter or Thanksgiving?

I just thinking...at Easter we celebrate the greatest gift given us all, the ATONEMENT. Thanksgiving we celebrate EVERYTHING we are thankful for. As I see it Easter should really be Thanksgiving.

I am thankful for:

My kids (the ones here and the ones waiting for me)
My husband
My home
My van
My mind
My body and spirit
My parents
My siblings
My friends
My good and bad relationship (they really do make you who you are today. Helps you know what you want in your life.)
The food I get to eat
My garden
My blog
My Internet
My education
My country
My President
My Quilt blocks
and for my kids....
Grandparents who bring Easter baskets.

Easter should be THANKSGIVING!!

Heck I even made the perfect turkey to go with it!

6 mas, 14 chitlins, 6 buggies, and 1 train...

Adventure was the name of the game!!! Today was our "playdate" and we weathered the storm. Us mama's decided to take our kids to the Church History Museum downtown rain or shine. It was a blast.

The most fun I will admit was getting on and off the TRAX train. We had so many strollers and all very little kids. Thank goodness for Alex!! He decided he'd rather come with us then sit home alone. We had some other "stranger angels" who helped us. Getting on the train was a hoot, but getting off was just plain comical.

Andrea and I were the first two off and we just start, literally, grabbin' and throwin' kids off before the train would close the doors and start moving. It was hilarious to watch. I bet the train conductor was peeved to high heaven. Those "stranger angels" laughed right along with us. I think all realized this was crazy and I would do it again in a heart beat.

Once everyone was accounted for we headed to the museum. There the
front desk ladies allowed the kids to touch replicas of the "Gold Plates." That was awesome. I didn't show it but I was about to cry. The experience was powerful to me. I think I really wanted to see and touch them more than the little ones.

We later went up to the "I am a Child of God" exhibit. It was hands on and the kids seems to really enjoy it. I hope the moms did too.

I am grateful for the wonderful things we have available to us here. If you want to come on our next outing keep and eye out on my facebook page for details. We will be going out next Thursday.

Provident Living

Taken from the food storage section on providenliving.org:

"Our Heavenly Father created this beautiful earth, with all its abundance, for our benefit and use. His purpose is to provide for our needs as we walk in faith and obedience. He has lovingly commanded us to “prepare every needful thing” (see D&C 109:8) so that, should adversity come, we can care for ourselves and our neighbors and support bishops as they care for others.

"We encourage members world-wide to prepare for adversity in life by having a basic supply of food and water and some money in savings.

"We ask that you be wise as you store food and water and build your savings. Do not go to extremes; it is not prudent, for example, to go into debt to establish your food storage all at once. With careful planning, you can, over time, establish a home storage supply and a financial reserve."—The First Presidency,
All Is Safely Gathered In: Family Home Storage, Feb. 2007, 1

We are trying to live by the counsel of the prophets. We are preparing. I never knew how important it was to be prepared for all things.

We are planning to grow many things this year and I am really excited for the sharing part. This year we will be growing: 6 different types of tomatoes, pickling cucumbers, grapes, peaches, green beans, basil, parsley, oregano, red scallions, spinach, butterhead lettuce, strawberries and red leaf lettuce. Thankfully, we have built two new garden plots. This is be a blessing.

In listening to the President Dieter F. Uchtdorf. He said something pertaining to a seed. Being a good seed is only part of it all. We must nourish it. I pray that I nourish those around me.
In preparing every needful thing here is what we are doing:

My faith is like a little seed it can be mighty if I nourish it, by scripture study, prayer and constant counsel with my Savior, Jesus Christ. I pray that you will do the same. I am thankful!!

In a blink of an eye...

He's a young man...he has my heart and soul. He's my baby. He's 12 and shaving. What is a mom to do? Can I lock him up and throw away the key? Break the phone to keep the little silly girls from calling? Or just watch and pray that all that we've taught him has really sunk in.

"Remember who you are. Do good things. Make good choices"

I tell him this every day, but in a blink of an eye he will be gone. I love him so much!! My young man, my young man.

There's a poem I have for my boys, fits perfectly:

"Blossoms"

I never dreamt
that tender blossoms
would be brown
Or precious angels
could come down
to live in the garden
of my giving heart
But here you are
brown angel.
