The Journey

I was reading dear friends blog and came across this statement:

"This is our one and only chance at mortal life—here and now. The longer we live, the greater is our realization that it is brief. Opportunities come, and then they are gone. I believe that among the greatest lessons we are to learn in this short sojourn upon the earth are lessons that help us distinguish between what is important and what is not.
.
I plead with you not to let those most important things pass you by as you plan for that illusive and non-existent future when you will have time to do all that you want to do.
.
Instead, find joy in the journey—now."
.
"Brothers and sisters, my sincere prayer is that we may adapt to the changes in our lives, that we may realize what is most important, that we may express our gratitude always and thus find joy in the journey"
.
President Thomas S. Monson

If we have not figured it out yet we are so blessed for the time we do have. The journey is not easy. I honestly do not believe that it was ever meant to be easy, but the joy has always been there and we have to see with different eyes to be able to obtain it.
.
I look at what our son is going through. I feel the anxiety every day with different activities he participates in and worry...what if he blanks out and I am not there? Or, how will others treat him if he does and they do not understand what is going on? Will he have the stigma of not being seen as normal? Will people exclude him? Worst yet, will we exclude him from what he wants to do?
.
This journey is not easy. But when all of those questions flood me, our beautiful son comes to me and says, "I know Ma, I'll be alright." He smiles and off he goes. He is our joy. He will keep us grounded. My, what an amazing young man.
.
So, on this journey we will see the joy in it now, and lavish in it.
